Friday in Jerusalem

Day 8: Friday 19 April Israel Museum, Yad Vashem Friday in Jerusalem Shorter day starting at the Holocaust Museum. Very sobering!! After our museum trips we had a choice to go shopping in Jerusalem or be dropped off at our hotel for lunch. Phyl and I decided to try and locate an ATM that would accept her Credit Card, but no luck. A few locals and a few tourists helped us get the tram, buy tickets and locate our hotel...... Day 9 Saturday 20 April Mt Scopus, Bethlehem, Herodian We could only stop and look at Bethlehem as it isn’t safe to visit...... Day 7: Thursday 18 April Mt of Olives, Old City, Mt Zion, Hall of the Last supper, Western Wall tunnels. Thursday We walked all day! We saw amazing sights and sounds. Jewish quarter, Arabian markets, Temple Mount, Bar Mitzvahs and joyous celebrations at the Western Wall....... Day 6: Wednesday 17 April Qumran, Dead Sea, Ein Gedi, Masada, Jerusalem After a hearty breakfast we set off for Masada. It is amazing how many tour groups are in Israel and of course we are often meeting up with some. One American group seems to be led by a Messianic Jewish Rabbi who has a wonderful sense of humour. On our way to Qumran more Israeli planes flew low over the Dead Sea and I embarrassingly asked if they were Jewish planes! We had lunch and drove on into Jerusalem.... Day 5 Tuesday 16 April Jordan River Yardenit, Beit Shean, Dead Sea Tuesday We left our base at Galilee and headed to the Baptismal area to be rededicated. Then we headed towards the Dead Sea. We have seen soldiers, the border patrol and planes flying low overhead. We walked around another huge excavated site revealing several different civilizations. We heard so much history it is whirling around in my head. When we checked into our posh resort it was a relief to walk down into the sea, sit down, bob and float and laugh. Dinner was amazing, hundreds of people being seated and eating in a giant smorgasbord cafeteria.....
